Palaces says ‘Happy Birthday’ with Death Pickles video
Returns to 529 for Kelly’s 2nd annual bash
Palaces returns to 529, Saturday, Feb 21, for Kelly’s Birthday Bash, days before the official release of their new album, Sunhunting.
“Palaces earning the honor to play our brother Kelly Hester’s birthday is one of those times of the year we continuously look forward to,” said Guitar/vocals Steven McLaughlin.
Palaces and Kelly share a friendship and connection that goes back. “Kelly and the Hester/Death Pickles crew are like family to us in Palaces,” said Jonathan (JB) Balsamo, drummer. “He has always supported us and had our backs throughout the ups and downs of making music in Atlanta, as he has done for tons of other musicians in the city.”
Palaces is giving Hester a birthday to remember with their recent collaboration on a promotional video highlighting Kelly’s Death Pickles. The video, made possible by Radical Metal and filmed by Video Rahim Hakmati, is a testament to the love and friendship the two entities share.
Palaces is among a dozen local bands that rent out rehearsal space at Ember City, where the Death Pickles kitchen is located.
“I’ve been around while they practice, when they were writing songs, even when they were recording…and I have watched them find themselves and develop into what Palaces is today,” Hester said. “They are professionals, and I think everyone’s gonna be blown away when they hear this album.”
Produced by Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher and mixed by Tom Tapley at West End Sound.
Sunhunting’s official release if Feb 27.
